This One-of-a-Kind necklace is approx. 24” long.

I started this necklace with the Tibetan repousse green turquoise pendant. Repousse is a method of embossing a sheet of metal by punching and hammering on alternating sides to create volume. I added the antique green hebron African trade beads from Sudan. Hebron beads are made with Dead Sea salt and date to the mid 1800’s. They have great patinas and pitting.

I liked the shape of the silver claws and thought they complimented the shape of the pendant, so they went in the mix. This is when it started looking like a crocodile to me – the roughness of the hebron beads and the sharp claws. In the next row I gave him some sharp white teeth, actually beautiful biwa stick pearls, and added African green opal, faceted green garnet, freshwater pearls, and sterling silver beads and findings.
