 Passion
The KatieO collection is a journey into a realm of fantasy, inspired by
a passion for creation. Every piece in the collection is inspired by a
link between KatieO's heart, and the world around her. Her philosophy
is to bring the world closer to you, to enable you to experience a
place, or beast, or emotion from a far away exotic land. To become part
of something greater every time you put it on.
The pieces in this collection are not to be confused with costume
jewelry. No, they are the embodiement of stone, of flesh, of fiber and
distant cultures, and the elements of the Earth, forged by her own
hands. Hands which toil with a passion for creation that you to can
share.
Love
The jewelry you see here is infused with love. The love of an artist
for her work. It permeates every piece. The aura of which can be felt
by the discerning among us. The jewelry here was not created in a cold
and lifeless factory, nor mass produced, for love escapes such places.
It was created in the loving hands of but one person. A person
dedicated to craftsmanship. Dedicated to life, and dedicated to the
finer pleasures it offers. When KatieO crafted every piece, it was with
love and caring. A love she knows you to will share the first time you
see the luster, feel the warmth and experience the emotion which comes
with the purchase of a one of a kind keepsake.
Life
The pieces in this jewelry collection are a celebration of life. From
the Tibetan sacred chank shell charms, to the hand crafted glass beads of
Afghanistan, to the cast bronze pendants of the Dogon people of Africa. Every piece pulses with life and tells a story. The
components in these pieces were not crafted in a plant, everything was
crafted by native peoples' own hands or wrenched from stone, earth, or
oyster in far away places, then incorporated into a unique jewelry
design by the gifted hands of KatieO. They were created to allow you to
feel that life force. A feeling we all experience when we adorn
ourselves with things passed through the ages.
 Nature
Many of these one of a kind pieces of
jewelry pay homage to the animals of different lands. Rich vibrant
animals, such as the dancing Elephant, the majestic Elk, and the calm
but fierce Nile Crocodile. It is widely believed that the essence of
these creatures imparts itself to those that wear their symbols.
Cultures from all over the Earth decorate thier bodies with symbols of
power, of cunning, of elegence. they adorn their homes with these
creatures to ward off evil spirits, and protect their loved ones. While
you may not believe in such fancifull things, you are sure to feel, and
be reminded of the feelings of those that do, when you wear it.
Background
Every piece of fine jewelry you find in these pages was hand crafted in
the US by designer, Katie O'Sullivan. Katie received a BFA from Parsons
School of Design. She has been studying jewelry design, silversmithing
and lapidary for over 10 years. She has hand cut and carved many of the
stones in the Fringe, Stone, Girls Rock, and Talisman collections. She
is constantly striving to challenge herself with unique ways to combine
the elements used in her sophisticated and dynamic custom jewelry
creations.
KatieO jewelry can be found in exclusive private collecitons around the
world. As well as the one of a kind pieces on display at Kapsiki on
Worth Avenue in Palm Beach Florida, and Artmosphere on Dixie Hwy in
West Palm Beach Florida.
Sources
The suppliers of the majority of the elements used in these wonderful creations are
family owned and operated, and purchase their goods from cottage
industries in foreign lands. Taken from places where men and women
still craft hand made beads and create intricate designs in silver
using age old techniques in traditional settings. Fanciful places, like
Africa, Afghanistan, Tibet, among others. A lot of the pieces are also
antique and these are of high regard to KatieO. As beauty is only made
much more awe-inspiring with the addition of countless years of care.
